The total count of fatalities due to the transport jet that burst into flames and crashed has climbed to 13, per recent reports.

“On my way to the Teamsters’ memorial service, I received word of a 13th person that died as a consequence of the UPS flight 2976 crash,” wrote the local official in a social media post. “My prayers are with the relatives, friends and co-workers of all who were taken in this recently occurred tragedy. National investigators disclosed that the freight aircraft’s left wing burst into flames and an power plant detached shortly after departure from the airfield, leading to the aircraft to plummet and explode into a fireball.

The NTSB announced it is probing the aircraft’s upkeep logs, which was in Texas for repairs weeks ahead of the incident.

Aviation information indicated the plane was on the runway in San Antonio, Texas from early September to 18 October.

“We are aware that this aircraft was there in that city,” said an investigator on the following day, without a precise time frame. “We will review each aspect of repairs that was performed, including the San Antonio time, all the way to the time of the flight.”

Recovery of Critical Components

The cockpit voice recorder and information unit were found, and the power plant was discovered on the airfield.

The recorders – called black boxes – were constructed to withstand crash impacts and extreme heat from fires, and they seemed to be undamaged when discovered among the remains. Authorities intend to analyzing recordings from the black boxes.

Jet’s last flight details showed an altitude of 475 feet and a rate of that speed before the crash.

Repair Background

Based on aviation authority documents from last month, a fracture on a part inside the tank area required repairs.

The company ST Engineering, which indicated it supplies structural repairs for the company’s aircraft and manages a service location in that city, declined to comment, but said it would assist completely when officials approached it.

Services Restart

Meanwhile, the facility services restarted last night with its Next Day Air or nighttime process, representative Jim Mayer stated. Each of the three tarmacs at the airport were also reopened.

Public Reaction

A memorial was organized on the late afternoon of 6 November by the area Teamsters Union, which supports employees at the Louisville airport, the company’s biggest shipping facility.

Teamsters Local 89, which stands for UPS workers, began the vigil with a period of reflection at that time, the estimated moment of the incident two days earlier.

“This incident was so unexpected, so surprising,” the official addressed the crowd of 200. “No one had a opportunity to bid farewell to any one of those who we have said farewell to.”
