Ex- Doctor Charged with Sexual Assault Charges Against 38 Patients

Legal authorities report that a former doctor stands accused of committing assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.

Details of the Serious Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of acts of sexual assault – including some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.

A deputy chief prosecutor said, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

Scope of the Police Inquiry

The charges come after what police called a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.

  • Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
