Former BBC Advisers Undergo MPs' Inquiry In the Wake of Assertions of Prejudice in Leaked Memorandum

Former British Broadcasting Corporation specialists appearing at MPs

We open with questions from Conservative MP Caroline Dinenage, who chairs the committee.

She initiates by giving details to the leaked memorandum written by Michael Prescott and printed in a daily publication.

"I do not desire the BBC leaning in any particular direction, I just want it neutral, unbiased and fair," he declares.

When asked if he believes the BBC is systematically partial, he answers: "No, I do not. Let's be clear, a great deal the BBC produces is world class - including informative and fictional content."

However, he continues: "There remains significant effort that requires attention at the British Broadcasting Corporation."

A further former external British Broadcasting Corporation consultant questioned by the committee, Caroline Daniel, says she regards the British Broadcasting Corporation with great importance and that it has a "ongoing system and vigorous discourse" across dynamic and complex subjects.

"Did the BBC ready to conduct a proper conversation and exchange and implement changes?" she questions. "From my perspective, yes they were."
