Iran Claims Strike on American Facility in Bahrain, During Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched operations across the region in response for a "massive" and continuing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity in the area of the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any damage is unclear and the United States has remained silent.
Missile Defenses Activated
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house US military bases - reported they have shot down incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
IRGC Statement
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on Iran carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted locations linked to the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military reported it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with notable success and shot down a series of missiles," it added.
Officials reported missile fragments fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
