The Blue Jays Secure Fall Classic Matchup Versus Los Angeles Dodgers
The outfielder previously helped the Astros securing the championship in 2017.
Canada's MLB team earned a spot in their maiden World Series after 1993 by overcoming the Seattle Mariners in the decisive game seven of the ALCS.
Down 3-1, outfielder George Springer delivered a three-run home run in the seventh frame, propelling the sole Canadian team in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 triumph in the seven-game series. Next up are the Los Angeles Dodgers, holders of the defending champions, in the anticipated World Series.
"I'm just so happy for this squad, our city, Canada," Springer stated, a key player of the Astros team that secured the 2017 championship. "It's truly an incredible feeling."
Springer has now connected for 23 post-season home runs, placing him third in history trailing only Ramirez (29) and Altuve (twenty-seven).
"There's probably not another person anywhere that I want up in that moment other than George Springer with his playoff prowess," remarked manager John Schneider.
Seattle's team, after leading the series 2-0 and 3-2, continue to be the only MLB franchise yet to make an appearance in a World Series.
Manager Dan Wilson stated "there's no question that it's painful" following his club's elimination at Rogers Centre, but applauded their work in the campaign.
"This is a unique group. It's a shame that we ended up on the losing end of this one," he remarked.
The Blue Jays secured the World Series on their two prior appearances in 1992 and '93, and will welcome the Dodgers in the opener on this Friday.
